Online Therapy Across Texas

Vanessa Gross, LMFT, works only over secure video, and her license covers all of Texas. A client in a Panhandle town and a client in a Houston suburb book the same way, have the same 60-minute sessions, and never drive to an appointment.

Who Can Book Online Therapy in Texas

Vanessa is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Texas, so the booking rule is about where you are rather than where you live: you have to be inside Texas for every session. If you leave the state for a trip, sessions may need to wait until you are back.

Within that rule, she works with young adults, people in midlife, adults well past 65, couples and veterans.

How Online Sessions Work

Vanessa is accepting new clients. Every step happens remotely, starting with a phone call and moving to secure video:

  • Fill in the request form at Work With Me to set up a free 15-minute phone consultation.
  • On that call, explain what brings you to therapy, ask questions and talk through fees.
  • Start with the intake, a 60-minute first session, and continue with 60-minute sessions after that.
  • Join each session from a private spot with a camera, a microphone and a steady connection.
  • Give 24 hours' notice to cancel, since late cancellations and no-shows are charged a fee.

What Vanessa Works With

Her work covers stress and burnout, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma and PTSD, adult ADHD, relationship issues, and the strain of life transitions. She uses ACT, CBT, psychodynamic therapy and DBT skills, and with couples she draws on the Gottman Method. The specialties page explains each area in more detail.

The techniques sit inside a client-centered relationship, alongside attachment-based and mindfulness-based work. Now 7 years into practice, Vanessa aims for real growth at a pace that fits you, while still challenging the old patterns that have started to feel comfortable.

Paying for Online Sessions

Therapy with Vanessa is private pay, and fees are discussed during the free consultation. If your health plan includes out-of-network benefits for mental health care, she can give you a superbill, which you send to the plan yourself; whether it reimburses anything, and how much, depends on the plan. As a private-pay client, you can also request a Good Faith Estimate, which sets out what sessions are expected to cost.

The City Pages Are a Sample

The city pages on this site describe what online sessions look like in a handful of Texas places. Read them as examples rather than a list of approved locations. Vanessa works with people anywhere in the state on the same terms, including small towns and rural counties from East Texas to the Big Bend that will never get a page of their own.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Not necessarily. The deciding factor is your location during each session, which has to be somewhere in Texas because Vanessa's license is a Texas license. Someone who recently moved to Texas, or who spends part of each year in the state, can book sessions for the weeks they are in Texas. Any stretch spent outside the state may mean pausing until you return.

Yes. Veterans are among the adults she works with, and sessions follow the same format as anyone else's: 60 minutes by secure video from wherever you are in Texas. What you focus on is up to you, whether that is the adjustment after leaving the service, strain in a relationship, or something unrelated to the military entirely.

Video sessions are booked ahead of time, so they can't respond to an emergency, and crisis care sits outside what New Tide Therapy offers. For a mental health crisis or suicidal thoughts, phone or text 988 at any hour, and dial 911 when there is immediate danger to you or anyone else. Less urgent things are worth writing down and bringing to your next session.
