Greater Houston

Online Therapy in Houston, Texas

Greater Houston stretches across Harris, Fort Bend and Montgomery counties and well beyond them, and Vanessa Gross, LMFT, can work with you anywhere in it by secure video. Her work with grief, trauma and major life changes moves at a pace you can manage, from a place you already know.

Harris County and the Rest of Greater Houston

The city itself sits mostly in Harris County, in Southeast Texas, with portions in Fort Bend and Montgomery counties. Since Vanessa holds a Texas license, the one place that matters is where you are when the session begins, and that needs to be in Texas. Montrose, the Heights, Kingwood and Clear Lake all qualify, and so do Pasadena, Pearland, Bellaire and Baytown.

Grief, Trauma and Life Transitions

Grief can follow a death, and it can also follow a divorce, a serious illness in the family or a move away from everyone who knew you. Vanessa's grief work makes room for the loss itself and for the practical weight around it: the paperwork, the empty chair at dinner, the friends who stop asking how you are.

With trauma and PTSD, she pays close attention to pace. Early sessions can focus on grounding skills drawn from DBT and mindfulness, so that harder memories are approached later, once you are ready and have tools in place.

Life transitions such as retirement, a new job, a breakup or a suddenly quiet house can stir up old grief and trauma, and they deserve attention in their own right.

If a hard stretch ever turns into a crisis or brings suicidal thoughts, call or text 988 right away, and if anyone's life is at immediate risk, call 911.

After a Heavy Session, You Are Already Home

Because the session comes to you, you can join from a bedroom in Meyerland, a quiet room at work in Midtown or a parked car in Kingwood, as long as nobody can overhear. There is no drive to plan and no parking to find.

For grief and trauma work, that cuts both ways. You end a heavy session somewhere familiar, but without the drive home that can give a hard conversation time to settle. Plan the next half hour with that in mind: a walk, a shower or a call with a friend before going back to email.

Consultation, First Session and Payment

The free 15-minute consultation is a phone call, so you can describe a loss or a painful history in general terms first and decide whether Vanessa feels like the right fit before saying more. You can request it on the Work With Me page.

Every session, including the intake, runs 60 minutes and is private pay, with fees discussed on that first call. If your plan pays toward out-of-network therapy, Vanessa can supply a superbill you file with the plan yourself, and you can ask for a Good Faith Estimate before starting.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

City limits never come into it. Cypress, Atascocita, Channelview and the other unincorporated parts of Harris County are in Texas, and being in Texas is the one location requirement for working with Vanessa. The same goes for Magnolia in Montgomery County, Rosenberg in Fort Bend County and League City in Galveston County.

Yes, as long as the trip stays inside Texas. A hotel room in Corpus Christi or a relative's guest room in Waco works if you can talk privately for the hour. One detail to watch: El Paso and the westernmost corner of the state keep Mountain time, an hour behind Houston, so double-check the session time if you are out there.

Tell Vanessa, because that is useful information and the pace can change. She works at a speed that meets you where you are, which can mean slowing down, spending more time on grounding skills, or holding off on a painful memory until you have more support around you, such as a friend you can call after sessions.
