Montgomery County

Online Therapy in The Woodlands, Texas

The Woodlands sits north of Houston, mostly in Montgomery County, with a section south of Spring Creek in Harris County. Individuals and couples there can see Vanessa Gross, LMFT, by secure video for a move or a divorce, a marriage under strain, a house that has gone quiet, or the questions that arrive in midlife.

Life Transitions, Chosen or Not

A life transition can be something you chose or something that happened to you: a move to a new part of Texas, a divorce, a first baby, a retirement, or the youngest child leaving home. Even welcome changes can unsettle your routines and your sense of who you are. Vanessa helps you sort out what you are leaving behind, what you want next, and which habits from the old chapter no longer fit.

Couples Sessions Using the Gottman Method

Vanessa uses the Gottman Method with couples. The work looks closely at how the two of you start hard conversations, what happens when one of you shuts down, and how you repair after a fight, with practice in the session rather than advice alone. Couples sessions last 60 minutes, and her page on Gottman couples therapy explains the approach.

Midlife Questions for Individuals and Couples

In a long marriage, midlife changes touch both partners. One of you may be ready to slow down while the other wants something new, or the care of an aging parent may fall more on one person than the other. Vanessa works with these questions individually and with couples; see midlife and beyond for the individual side.

Joining From The Woodlands, Spring or Conroe

Sessions happen on video wherever you are in Texas, so there is no trip down to Houston and no appointment to drive to from Shenandoah, Magnolia or any of The Woodlands villages. For couples, settle the logistics ahead of time, such as who starts the call and where you will sit, so the hour does not open with a small argument about the Wi-Fi. If a session ends in the middle of something hard, agree to leave it for next time rather than reopening it over dinner.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Couples work follows the same rule as individual sessions: everyone on the call has to be in Texas, since Vanessa's license was issued in Texas. If a work trip or a family visit will take one of you out of state, plan to reschedule, with 24 hours' notice or more so the late-cancellation fee does not apply. Sessions pick up where you left off once you are both back.

It is a good reason. A move can take apart routines, friendships and the sense of competence you built somewhere else, and that can bring homesickness, irritability or second thoughts, even when the move was your idea. Sessions can help you name what you miss, make room for each partner's reactions if you moved together, and build a new routine at a pace that is realistic.

Both last 60 minutes, but the focus differs. In couples work, Vanessa pays attention to how the two of you talk to each other in the moment, slows down the exchanges that usually go wrong, and helps you try different ways of responding. You can ask how she structures the first couples session during the free 15-minute consultation, before either of you commits.
