Fees and Payment
Fees and Payment for Online Therapy
How paying for therapy with Vanessa works, what a superbill is, and what to ask before your first session.
Private Pay
Paying for Therapy Privately
You can pay for sessions directly instead of going through insurance. When you pay privately, no insurance claim is filed unless you choose to submit one yourself, and decisions about your care stay between you and Vanessa.
Vanessa goes over fees with you during the free consultation, before anything is scheduled.
Out-of-Network Benefits
Using a Superbill for Out-of-Network Benefits
Some insurance plans pay back part of the cost of therapy with an out-of-network provider. A superbill lists what an insurer usually needs to review a reimbursement request: the provider, the service, the date, the fee, and the billing codes.
Vanessa can provide the superbill to you. You then submit it to your insurer according to its process and receive any approved reimbursement directly. Payment for the session is still your responsibility, and a superbill is documentation, not a promise that a claim will be approved.
Before relying on this option, ask your plan about its out-of-network deductible, reimbursement percentage, allowed amount, submission deadline, and whether a diagnosis is required. Those details help you estimate what you will actually pay.
No Surprises Act
Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate
If you are not using insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected charges for your care. You can ask for one when you schedule, and you will receive it in writing before your first session.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Keep a copy of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
Payment Methods
Ways to Pay
Vanessa accepts ACH bank transfer, American Express, Discover, HSA, Mastercard, and Visa. Ask during the consultation when payment is collected and when superbills are issued.
No-Cost First Step
The Consultation Is Free
The 15-minute phone consultation costs nothing. It covers what you are looking for, Vanessa's approach, availability, Texas eligibility, and fees. It is not therapy, and you do not need to tell your whole story.
Cancellation Policy
Please Give at Least 24 Hours' Notice
If you need to cancel or reschedule, contact Vanessa at least 24 hours before the appointment. A fee applies to late cancellations and missed sessions, and Vanessa reviews it with you before treatment begins.
If something unexpected happens, let Vanessa know as soon as you can so you can talk it through.
Money Questions
Questions People Often Ask
Ask about it during your free consultation. If your plan has out-of-network mental health benefits, a superbill may let you get part of the fee reimbursed. Call the member-services number on your insurance card to ask what your plan covers for out-of-network care, including telehealth and couples sessions.
Ask during the free consultation whether any reduced-fee openings are available. If the fee does not work for you, Vanessa can help you find a referral that does.
Bring it up as soon as you know. Vanessa can help you think through timing, frequency, or a planned pause.
Whenever possible, talk with Vanessa before stopping so you can make a plan together and talk about whether you hope to return.
